TEXT 100 - Above the majestic seas of Second Life hovers the futuristic Island of Text 100. As the first real world public relations company to enter SL, Text 100 has devoted itself to improving the user experience of all residents.

With the opening of their newest addition, the Text 100 Expo, they are creating a service for the newcomers. Text 100’s SL Project Manager Smiddy Smails states, " The Expo will be a place where many different aspects of SL can be discovered at one time, without having to teleport all over the place."

The Expo will be a rotating showcase. At the present time the works of many of SL best game developers are on display. Currently the the works of Les White, Lex Neva, Hank Horton, Salem Penguin, FlipperPA Peregrina and Digi Vox are in residence.

Vox who works with The Electric Sheep Company helped to develop Text 100’s game, "Get Set, The Name Game."

"With Get Set we were looking to create a (SL) worldwide icebreaker without the awkward goodbyes," explains Smails, "In the game players collect names from each other and collect pairs by matching the first letters of the First names in one hand and the first letters of Last names in another. It’s sort of like Poker with an AV."

Because Text 100 created a group for the players, participants are easier to find. This makes it a great networking tool for newbies to meet and interact with the SL community at large. The rules are simple and the game can be shared with anyone and played anywhere in SL.

"Second Life is always changing and evolving; we must also," says Smails, "That’s the great thing about a virtual office. You can change it with new buildings or add a new feature. We’re always learning here."

Change makes the Expo space appealing as it is capable of adapting to fit the various needs of the different shows that will appear through out the year, "Whether it’s designers, scripters, developers or builders, the Expo will be the place to experience their works," states Smails. There are so many talented residents that it’s impossible to show them all at once so the rotation of the Expo will mean that there’s always something new to experience, Smails said.

The Expo’s focus right now is on games, and it is in full swing. Games were chosen that are easy to play and PG and no gambling. The games can be played alone or with a couple of friends. Many games are free to copy and can be shared with others.

Try your hand at the maddening "Towers of Hanoi" or test you SL knowledge with the SL trivia game. Don’t forget to pick up your free "Get Set" game pack and start playing with your friends. Remember the Text 100 Expo is always changing so check back often.
