http://slurl.com/secondlife/wales%20springs/207/170/37 WALES SPRINGS – Madcow Cosmos’ newest project is called «Fool On Deck», but it’s not about a crazy guy on a ship. Rather, it’s the Tarot deck of fortune telling cards, spread out over several sims, showing the age old symbols in most artistic and very fun ways as 3d sculptures.

Add to this the notecards by Alexander Vargas that you get from clicking at the base of each sculpture, giving you the meanings and interpretations of each. It’s a helpful guide to the often dim symbolism of Tarot.

”The imagery in the cards are very enjoyable, and the sense of mysticism is a popular theme that spans many religions and every continent. So it seemed a good subject,” Cosmos explained when asked about his interest in the Tarot.

The Tarot sculptures are as full of facettes and aspects as the original cards. This vast installation invites the resident to wander over high green hills and deep dark valleys, looking at the sculptures from each side and angle. Does that sculpture inspire to click for a prediction? Let intuition decide.

”The inspiration for much of my art comes from an overactive imagination and a love of fantasy and myths,” Cosmos said. ”I do like looking into the magical practices from medieval times and the turn of the last century. But beyond that, I didn’t choose the theme for any relation to my occupation or specific artistic interest.”

Cosmos is not a strong believer in Tarot himself. ”I find the chance of pseudo random card shuffling revealing the future through a series of vague images with conflictory meanings to be highly impropable at best. But in studying symbolism and imagery, what we really do when we interpret is see our selfs reflected,” he said.
